The occasion was the official opening of the gazebo next to the watering trough renovated by Green Balkans.
There, on the outskirts of the village, we talked about nature conservation and the restoration of extinct species like the Saker Falcon.
We introduced our new friends from the village’s hunting club and representatives from local game management units to the activities of Life for Falcons project. We also handed out pocket guides for hunters published as part of the project, which serve as excellent field aids for identifying birds and specifically distinguishing between game and protected bird species.
We also discussed poaching, unanimously condemning this crime against wildlife. We emphasised that we are all on the same side - that of nature's friends.
Present at the event was also a group of students from the “Lord of the Birds” club at the Agricultural High School “Zemya” in Provadia, along with Mr. Medzhnun Ademov. In addition to learning about local bird species, the Life for Falcons project, and the work of our team, they also had the chance to release birds back into the wild - successfully recovered patients from the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre of Green Balkans.
