"Life for Falcons" was presented at a seminar of LRS-Razgrad
28.11.2022On November 22, LRS-Razgrad hosted a meeting on the presentation of the "Life for Falcons" project. The first presentation to the hunting community a month ago in Stara Zagora caused enormous interest.
NLRS-SLRB, which is one of the participants in this project with its experts Maria Kubadinska and Lyubomir Stefanov, received an invitation to hold a second seminar with representatives of hunting associations from the Razgrad region - LRS-Razgrad, LRS-Shumen, LRS-Zavet, LRS -Popovo and LRS-Kubrat. More than 80 people were present in the hall, and representatives of the hosts numbered almost 60.
The first part and the presentation of the project activities went smoothly and was presented by the participating organizations NLRS-SLRB, BSPB and Green Balkans, who as always brought the legendary Saker falcon Romeo.
During the workshop, key threats to protected species and game were presented, as well as guidelines for dealing with them. The work of BSPB on combating poisons was presented and valuable experience was shared with hunters, as well as the problems related to intensive agriculture and poaching. Green Balkans presented the difficulties associated with the recovery of the saker falcon through the breeding program and reintroduction.
The participants were quite active in the subsequent discussions, and the chairman of LRS-Shumen, Stoyan Stoyanov, who is also a member of the Board of Directors of NLRS-SLRB, was the first to take the floor with interesting facts and proposals.
His speech provoked the active participation of the entire audience, and the conversations lasted for more than an hour, carried into an informal setting until late in the evening. Of course, the excellent organization of the hosts in the person of the chairman of LRS-Razgrad Pencho Penchev and the accountant Maria Miteva also contributed to all this.
The "Securing the recovery of the endangered Saker Falcon in Bulgaria and Southern Romania" (LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162) project is of 5 years duration and receives funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
