"LIFE for Falcons" project guest of the traditional falconry fair of the Bulgarian Falcon Society!
08.02.2022On the first day of February, the traditional falconry festival was held in honour of St. Tryphon, who besides being the patron saint of winemakers and vine growers, is also the patron saint of falconers.
The Green Balkans' team, part of the "Life for Falcons" LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162 project was among the guests, and the invitation came personally from the Bulgarian Falconry Society!
During the fair, held at the Elin Pelin town with the assistance of the municipality, our team was able to meet with representatives of both the Falconry society and guests of the event from all over the country.
We told everyone present about the goals and activities of the project. And, at the subsequent working meeting with representatives of the Falconry Union, we discussed several topics related to falconry, the work of the project team, as well as possible future joint activities for the return of the Saker falcon in Bulgaria.
And, special guests of the event were the Common Buzzard Misho and the Common Kestrel Vladko - birds that have undergone rehabilitation at the Green Balkans Rescue Center, but with permanent injuries that can not be released in the wild!
We believe that such meetings are more than useful for our activities and we are happy whenever we can become part of such events.
The "Securing the recovery of the endangered Saker Falcon in Bulgaria and Southern Romania" (LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162) project is of 5 years duration and receives funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
