“Incubator” for Wild Birds in the Rescue Center

“Incubator” for Wild Birds in the Rescue Center

13.05.2010

We are proud to inform you, that owing to the selfless concern of the team of the Centre, we have offspring of barn owls, kestrels and storks. And while the six babies of the barn owls were hatched under the care of their parents, the two kestrels and the two storks were incubated in the Centre. As planned, the eggs were taken from the breeding couples in the Centre and were laid in the incubator, where they stayed about a month. And then, one day the small birds came into the world. They will be surrounded by the care of specialists in the Centre for a week, after that they will be committed to “adoptive parents” from their species. In this way, the little birds will be able to get used to the fact that they are birds, and that will increase their chance to survive in the wild nature, where they will be set free later in summer.
All this is a part from the unique program for Bulgaria, in which after a time will be included extinct species as Lesser Kestrel and Bearded Vulture. Thus, the experience that has been gained in the Centre will help to bring these species back to the wild Bulgarian nature.
