Towards the end of last week the Rescue Centre of Green Balkans admitted a Steppe Eagle for treatment
The rare guest arrived from the area of Aytos, following the signal we sent to RIEW Burgas. Unfortunately the examination revealed a lot of problems - the bird had a fractured right wing and was emaciated and dehydrated.
Of course, the team undertook urgent measures to stabilize its condition. The X-ray confirmed the presence of a fracture, but the fluids we infused, helped the bird get better.
The eagle is now in the recovery room of the Centre. It is being treated by the team of veterinarians and rehabilitators of the Rescue Centre and we are hoping on good news.
Steppe Eagle is an Indo-African species, nesting in Russia, Turkey, Asia, India and Nepal. It winters from Eastern to Southern Africa, Iran, Pakistan, India, Indo-China. It is a rare visitor of Bulgaria during migration.
We are very grateful to all who helped the eagle - the person, who found it, our colleagues from BSPB, as well as our colleagues from RIEW Burgas.
