We are preparing to welcome the Egyptian vultures in northeastern Bulgaria!13.03.2023
That is why, these days, a team of Green Balkans was in northeastern Bulgaria, in the region of Provadia.
There, we first took care of the feeding ground above the village of Partizani. We fixed the fence and electric fence, checked the CCTV, mowed, trimmed the overgrown bushes, cleaned thoroughly and, finally, left enough food to meet the long-awaited guests.
Along the way, armed with binoculars and a spotting scope, we checked out some of our known sites of potential nests or traditional Egyptian vulture habitats in the area.
Our careful observation confirmed that the birds had not yet arrived.
Our work in this part of Bulgaria will continue with more initiatives aimed at popularizing the efforts of nature conservation organizations in our country to support the fragile population of the Egyptian vulture, as well as a number of targeted activities directly related to the birds and their habitats in the area!
The activity is funded by the Prague municipality and the Prague Zoo under the “Protection of the Egyptian vulture on the Balkans” project.
