Our team conducted a three-day tuition of veterinary students at the university`s base in the coastal city Tsarevo. The subject of the tuition was “Aquatic mammals in the Black Sea”.
The future veterinary surgeons were introduced to the anatomy and physiology of the common dolphin, common bottlenose dolphin and harbour porpoise – the three species of aquatic mammals found in the Black Sea aquatory.
The young people also learned about the behaviour, feeding and research our team is involved with. We told them about the field work, our efforts in preserving the dolphins and about our long experience in working with dolphins.
We had field work on the last day. We demonstrated on the spot the methods and instruments, that we use during monitoring.
As part of our visit in the region we took part in the campaign of popularizing the Trakian university and the possibilities it provides to future candidate students among the citizens and tourists in the coastal city. There, with the help of the buzzard Harry and the screech owl Blaga, we told the curious citizens and tourists about our joint initiatives, green activities and our work in reintroducing the rare species Saker Falcon and the project “Life for Falcons” in which we, the Green Balkans, are collaborators.
