Two Czech zoos donated Egyptian vultures hatched for the nature of Bulgaria!

01.03.2022
Two Egyptian vultures arrived today at the Green Balkans' Rescue Center as part of a traditional partnership between different zoos of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).

They are a donation from the Prague and Ostrava zoos. They were hatched there in 2021 and will be released in Bulgaria this year. The activity is part of the "Egyptian Vulture New LIFE" project, and the method that will be applied is delayed-release.

After staying in the so-called "commodity" aviary of the Rescue Center, the birds will be transported to an adaptation cage in the Eastern Rhodopes. There, the project's field team will continue to take care of them, even after their release, by supplying them regularly with food at the feeding site near and carrying out regular monitoring!

Thanks to Anton Vaidal, the Egyptian Vulture Officer at the EAZA system, for the long-standing cooperation that has turned into a partnership in the name of survival of the endangered Egyptian Vulture!
