Training in falcon breeding centre in Wales

22.06.2009

IWC is one of the biggest organizations in the UK that is dealing professionally with falcon breeding. With more than 30 years of experience in activities worldwide the falconers from Wales are amongst the most respected specialists in the field of birds of prey. One of their main directions is conservation activities.

Exactly these common interests in the field of rare and threatened bird species have become the reason for contact between the two organizations. The first step was made 2 years ago when Elena Kmetova from the Green Balkans team passed a training course in the falcon centre in Wales.

The practical experience and knowledge she gained there have proved useful for both sides.

Raising the qualification of the Wildlife Rescue centre staff was the reason for Ivan Ivanov has also passed 6 week training course in Wales. The experience gained in the area of feeding, breeding and keeping of falcons is very useful and will help in developing the breeding program for rare and threatened bird species.

The excellent results from the work and cooperation between Bulgarians and British give hope for future joint activities.
