Three Czech zoos donated Lesser kestrels for the Bulgarian nature!

At the very end of February, three Czech zoos donated Lesser kestrels for the activities to support the species in our country!

The Prague, Plzen and Hodonin zoos of the Czech Republic donated eight Lesser Kestrels to the Green Balkans. The birds will be part of the activities to support the species in our country, within the  "Life for Lesser Kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project.

Upon arrival, the birds were housed at the Rescue Center aviaries, where they will be cared for by the project team. In the future, two of the kestrels will be released into the wild, and the rest will be included in the breeding flock maintained by the Center for the project.

The birds are a generation of parents sent to these zoos from the Green Balkans years ago to replenish their collections, but also future cooperation for work on the species in our country.

We thank our Czech colleagues for the opportunity to work together. We believe that this event is only part of further long-term cooperation in the name of supporting and protecting the Lesser Kestrel in Bulgaria.
