Third workshop involving Green Balkans’ team and the institutions working closely with the Rescue Center
18.09.2015Green Balkans organized and hosted the third meeting with institutions working closely with the Wildlife Rescue Center.
The event involved different RIEWs, nature and national parks, the Ministry of Environment and Water, zoos, and representatives of the volunteers of the Rescue Center.
This meeting organized within “People FOR nature – Green Society in Action” project, funded by the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Program, through “Reform Fund Linked to Civil Society Participation”, was once again focused on the activity of the Rescue Center, the difficulties related to the transportation and accommodation of animals, statutory acts, signals of animals in distress, and other aspects of the daily routine.
The participants were acquainted with the infringements on CITES, as well as the activities implemented by Green Balkans within “Lesser Kestrel Recovery” LIFE11 NAT/BG/360 and “Vultures’ return in Bulgaria” LIFE08 NAT/BG/278 projects.
The second day was dedicated to practical training in rendering first aid to wild animals in distress. Our guests enjoyed the visitor’s section of the Rescue Center and the special aviaries, cages, and facilities therein.
At the end of the event the participants were given t-shirts and promotion materials related to the project.
We do hope our colleagues found this event useful and helpful, supporting their efforts when rescuing wild animals.
