Yesterday we parted with five young Saker Falcons hatched this year at the Green Balkans
Wildlife Rescue Center.
The young birds were separated from their parents and placed in the adaptation aviaries near Stara Zagora. This is the last step before we they are finally released and free to move in an unknown direction.
We are glad that this year's activities under the project "Return of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria" have gone well. While we worked on placing the last of the chicks in the hacks, one of the first Saker chicks that were hacked at the beginning of the month, Lazarus, is already flying freely in the sky.
We expect his example to be followed soon by his sisters Svetia, Maya, April and Marta they are still uncertain and a little afraid as they peer into the abyss opened under them.
We are confident that all our released Sakers will become very strong and brave birds then they will conquer the heavens, and in time, when the time comes to create families they will be back here at the "home" where the hacks are.
The "Return of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria" performed by Green Balkans and the International Wildlife Consultants (UK) Ltd. with the support of research and conservation program of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi and Armeec.
