The forest of the falcon will grow near the Natura 2000 zone Kamenski Hill!
19.12.2022At the end of last week we started the "Falcon's forest".
150 black poplar trees were planted by the Green Balkans "Life for Falcons" project team, volunteers from Trakia University, representatives of GDS Sliven, UIDP and NP "Sinite Kamani".
The initiative is part of our efforts to return the Saker falcon to Bulgaria, providing future couples with a home to raise their offspring.
Many thanks to YUDP, who donated the saplings and selected a wonderful place to plant them, fully meeting the requirements of the species!
The initiative, "Home for a Falcon", funded by TELUS Bulgaria, part of the "Life for Falcons" project (LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162), once again proved that NGOs and government institutions can work together, for the sake of protecting nature! Because that's the only way we'll succeed!
Thanks to all the enthusiastic participants! The forest of the falcon is already a fact! Hopefully, in years to come, it will become his home as well!
The "Securing the recovery of the endangered Saker Falcon in Bulgaria and Southern Romania" (LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162) project is of 5 years duration and receives funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
