This is not the first offspring of the Saker pair, despite being the most numerous until now. Last year the pair hatched one chick named Gogo, due to its birthday - May 6th.

The Rescue Centre of Green Balkans maintains a total of six pairs of Saker Falcons. The birds were imported from Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. They will be actively involved in the process of reintroduction of the species to Bulgaria, under the care of the Rescue Centre team. This year we are waiting for offspring from two more pairs.

These chicks, raised in the Rescue Centre, will be released following a special method through a hack-pen. The method was already tested in 2012.

Until then, thanks to the special cameras, placed in the nests of the birds, the team of Green Balkans will carefully monitor every day of the falcon families, being ready to interfere if necessary.

See for yourselves the gentle care and love the bold parents surround their chicks with. We promise to keep you up-dated on the lives of our globally threatened babies and their families.

The “Saker Reintroduction to Bulgaria” project is a part of the research and conservation programme of the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency and is implemented by the Institute of Biodiversity and Environment Research - BAS, Green Balkans and the International Wildlife Consultants (UK) Ltd and is also supported by Spatia Wildlife and (ZOO Bojnice).
