The first Saker Falcon egg for 2015 was laid in the Wildlife Rescue Centre yesterday

Our team estimated right a week ago, that the first Saker Falcon egg will soon appear. The proud parents are Romeo and Juleit, a pair with the oldest male, which is 21 years old!

They were the first to start copulating this year, launching the Saker Falcon breeding programme.
We are happy to share with you that, unlike last year when we had 3 copulating pairs, this year we already have 5 confirmed families out of a total of 8 pairs kept at the Wildlife Rescue Centre. We hope that the rest of the birds will soon join, even though four of them are very young falcons.

The count-down has however begun. There are 31 days left to the hatching of the first baby (the entire incubation takes 32 days).

We will keep our fingers crossed, hoping that everything goes smooth, so towards the end of the 2015 breeding season we even exceed the number of 16 babies, which hatched last year.

The Saker Return to Bulgaria Project is implemented by Green Balkans and  International Wildlife Consultants (UK) Ltd. Through the kind support of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi an Armeec Insurance Company.
