This morning, after being marked with rings and deparasited, the chicks headed for the village of Levka, where they were placed in the adaptation aviary constructed within "Lesser Kestrel Recovery" project. There they will meet their Spanish fellows brought by DEMA - our project partner, a week ago.

The next step of our babies towards the life in the wild will be taken in a few weeks, when we will open the aviary for them to fly in the sky of Sakar.

In a few days, the rest of the chicks will also leave their home, Green Balkans’ Rescue Centre, heading for the realm of Lesser Kestrels - Sakar Mountain.

These are the first birds hatched, reared and released in Bulgaria. We do hope that in the coming years the number of Lesser Kestrels “made in Bulgaria” will increase, and in several years this species will be part of Bulgaria’s avifauna again.
