The first Lesser Kestrels hatched within the 'Life for Lesser Kestrel' LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project

19.05.2021
Yesterday, not only the first for the year but also the first within the 'Life for Lesser Kestrel' LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017 project were hatched in the incubator of the Green Balkans Rescue Centre.

The young are from Rescue Centre's couples, sheltered in its incubators. Currently, the team of breeders under the project is constantly taking care of them.

This is not easy at all, because they take the parents' role in the frequent feeding, which in the first days is on every two hours.

Currently, the Centre's incubators have a total of 20 eggs, and the couples in the aviaries - over 30, and their number are increasing daily!

We remind you that all hatchlings will be released into the wild, as part of the project's activities, supporting the fragile wild population of the species, created thanks to the efforts of our team, after nearly 25 years of absence.
