The egg belongs to a bird couple transported a while ago from the Green Balkans Wildlife Rescue Center in Stara Zagora. Each year two pairs from the Center sped their “summer holiday” in the Facility. They have a very important role. Form one side they attract the returning Kestrels, and from the other they teach the young birds, hacked in the Wildlife Rescue Center, and freed in the colony in Levka without their parents, to behave like real Lesser Kestrels. Also the adult, experienced birds warn for every danger like a predator, unwelcome visitor, and with this they save the lives of the still inexperienced young birds on a daily basis
And the first egg for the season is already a fact. The “Lesser Kestrel Recovery” LIFE11 NAT/BG/360 team wishes a lot of laid eggs and many young hatched this season, so we can continue the success of the returning of this extinct, before Green Balkans activities, specie.
