The first Egyptian vulture chick in the Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center has hatched!

A chick has hatched in the Egyptian vulture nest in the Green Balkans’ Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center for second year in a row!

A few days ago one of the eggs of the Egyptian vulture family hatched and they are now taking care of their offspring. The male from the pair is donated by Sofia zoo and the female is a wild bird, captured in Bulgaria.

This is their second offspring, after they had their first chick last year hatched in the Center! The breeding program of the species is an activity of the Green Balkans’ Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center within Egyptian vulture New LIFE (LIFE16 NAT/BG/000874) project.

Another pair, donated to us by Prague zoo within the project in the Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center is incubating two eggs and waiting for them to hatch. We hope we will have many more reasons for exciting news!
