The first 20 young White storks raised at the Green Balkans Rescue Center this year flew into the wild!

Yesterday, in the presence of over 30 children and their parents, the first 20 young White storks raised at the Green Balkans Rescue Center flew into nature.

All the children present at the event had the opportunity to be involved in every step of the release process – from the check ups and deworming, to the transfer and the first flight of the birds.

The temporary home of our young feathered little ones was, once again, the abandoned substation of the dam near the village of Opan in Stara Zagora, which roof turned out to be an extremely suitable for the occasion!

Together with the storks, a Gray Heron, underwent a course of treatment in the Center and was released.

Good luck to all the storks who took a flight to freedom yesterday! Stay tuned for the next stork release event you can get involved in!

We also thank our volunteers, the Veterinary medicine students from Trakia University, whom, once again, were the right hand of the team of veterinarians of the Rescue Center.
