The feathered allies in the field visiting the children of Nova Zagora

During the first part of the event the guests attended the premiere of the movie “A Small Red Data Book”, where the students from class 4v presented 22 bird species – their habitats, peculiarities, and conservation status.

Then, the representatives of Green Balkans’ Wildlife Rescue Center acquainted the students and their parents with the "Feathered allies in the field" – the Montagu's Harrier and the Lesser Kestrel. The children learnt a lot about the species and their role of natural pest controllers in agriculture.

The visit of the team of Green Balkans to Nova Zagora is part of the activities envisaged with a project funded by M-Tel ECO Grant, being aimed at involving local communities (farmers, students, teachers, and media) in the protection and conservation of the Montagu’s Harrier, as well as in the promotion of the biological methods of pest control in agriculture through birds – our feathered allies in the field.
