After a little more than two weeks ago the young Saker Falcons took off from the Green Balkans Rescue Centre, where they were hatched. On their way to freedom, they found themselves in an adaptive aviary in nature, where the care for the young birds continues.
Every day the 'Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria' project team feeds and monitors the young falcons. We make sure that their food is varied and plentiful. We record each behavior of the birds so that we can subsequently analyze the data and draw our conclusions from the results.
Two field assistants share this responsible task that we must perform daily! Of course, our volunteers are also helpful, without them we would not be able to cope!
So, the good news is that all five birds are in great shape, already flying around the hack and increase the distance of their flights. However, they return every day to eat and rest safely near their last home - the adaptation aviary, before embracing the adventure of 'life in the wild'.
The 'Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria' project is financed by Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund and Armeec JSC.
