It is early in the year, and we can already boast of the first copulatory pair of saker falcons at the Green Balkans Rescue Center.
This year the happy family is Pizzo and Penda. The birds have been together for more than 5 years, during which time they raised not one or two little ones.
In addition, two other couples are making a serious request to start a family. These are Dobry and Vulna, also DJ and Willow. However, they are currently in the phase of courtship, a time when the male is especially generous to the lady of his heart and gives her some of his food!
We would like to recall that for almost ten years the Green Balkans Rescue Center has been working on the project "Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria", within which the first pair of saker falcons have started breeding in Bulgaria after the last wild pair was seen 40 years ago.
The project "Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria" is fund by Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund and Armeec JSC
