The breeding season has started for the Egyptian Vulture pair in the Green Balkans Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre

Last week ended with great news from the Egyptian Vulture pair in the Centre. Thanks to the mounted surveillance cameras, we were able to observe the copulation of the birds.

The pair was created a few years ago, and last year they had a wonderful young chick which the two parents reared with love and devotion.

The female bird is originally a wild one which came to us for treatment, and the male was kindly given to us by the Sofia Zoo, where he was hatched.

We are hoping that this year as well the birds would bring us the joy of having offspring. We will find out if that's going to be the case a bit later in time.

The breeding of the birds is part of the activities of the Rescue Center, part of the "Egyptian Vulture NEW LIFE" project. (LIFE16 NAT/BG/000874).
