The aviaries and nests of the Egyptian vultures - ready for the upcoming breeding season of birds at the Rescue Center!
03.02.2022In the middle of winter, the Green Balkans' Rescue Center is actively preparing for spring and the upcoming breeding season.
A few days ago, the ''Egyptian Vulture New LIFE'' project team inspected and repaired all perches and nesting platforms of the aviaries, home of our feathered inhabitants.
In addition to being repaired, the nests were prepared for the upcoming breeding season, as our team put branches, straw, feathers and wool in them, imitating the materials that wild birds use in their natural environment.
Separately, the floors and walls were cleaned of accumulated food debris and then disinfected.
We remind you that at the Green Balkans Rescue Center three pairs of Egyptian vultures are bred in three separate aviaries within the project. The fourth aviary, on the other hand, we use as a home for one or more annual birds, which will be released by the delayed-release method.
We hope that this year we will be able to boast of a successful breeding season and we will be able to raise and release in the wild youngs, hatched at the Center which, unfortunately, last year we did not.
