The Spanish experience in Lesser Kestrel breeding was transferred to Green Balkans’ Wildlife Rescue Center

During her few days’ stay at the Lesser Kestrel Breeding Center of DEMA - Green Balkans’ partner within the project, our colleague got firsthand experience in captive breeding of falcons applied by the Spanish organization, as well as in direct conservation activities implemented by our Spanish colleagues for this particular bird species.

In addition, while at DEMA’s center, Yordanka was involved in a short training course on crucial issues such as feeding of birds, caretaking of the inhabitants of the vivarium and the insectarium, cleaning and maintenance of the facilities, and ringing of birds.

The so acquired new knowledge will be applied in breeding and daily caretaking of Lesser Kestrels at Green Balkans’ Wildlife Rescue Center in Stara Zagora.

And, what was the most important thing, good and caring attitude towards birds was transferred from Almendralejo, Spain, to Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.

We do hope that this valuable species will be successfully recovered in Bulgaria’s wild, new wild colonies will be established, and the European population of the species will be preserved.

And HERE, visiting the website of DEMA, you can learn more about the training of our colleague in Spain.
