The Saker falcons' breeding season has started at the Green Balkans' Rescue Center!
07.02.2022In recent days, the attention of the Green Balkans' Rescue Center's team is focused on the Saker falcons' pairs located at the Center's aviaries.
We are glad to share that two of the thirteen couples at the Center are already actively copulating. These are the families Orpheus and Eurydice, and Dobri and Valna.
But the good news about our falcons doesn't end there!
In five of the pairs, the males actively "entice" the females in the nests, feeding them. This behaviour is the first step towards starting a family and, in practice, shows the closeness of the birds.
So, the breeding season for Saker falcons at the Rescue Center began. What our success will be this year and how many young we will release in nature remains to be seen! And we also follow with interest the behaviour of other birds, which are mostly young and still inexperienced in "family life".
