Five Lesser Kestrel chicks were ringed and treated for parasites today in the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre’s clinic. Three of them the team send to the Adaptation Aviary for release in the Centre area, and the other two were send back to their parents, because they are still young for independent life.
At this moment, there are 7 birds awaiting their freedom. Later they will be joined by the two younger ones and together they will be released in Stara Zagora’s skies.
This year there were a total of 88 chicks hatched in the Green Balkans’ Wildlife Centre, and all of them will be released in the wild. Until now in the Stara Zagora skies there are 30 and by the season’s end we are expecting their numbers to rise to 40. The rest of the chicks are already a part of the newly formed colony in Sakar, thanks to the five-year effort of the Green Balkans’ team.
