In this way, with embarrassment, we noticed that the one couple did not hatch. A closer observation proved that our suppositions were well-grounded. So, after short discussions, we put the five little eggs into the incubators and on their place, just in case, we rested skillfully made “imitations” … and the waiting began.
Through regular control and frequent inspections of the valuable nest, we found out that only three from the five eggs were inseminated, had embryos and would hatch little birds. That was the case. One by one little white fluffy fledgelings started appearing into the wide world. At that time ended the calmness of the person responsible for their breeding. Every day, at intervals of two-three hours, the “stepmother” of the little Lesser Kestrel assumed the obligation to weigh, to feed, to weigh again, to clean and to put into the incubator each of the three wards and their obligation were to feed and sleep.
In the course of time, to our great disappointment, one of them began to slow down its development and in spite of our efforts we couldn’t save it and in the end it died. Thus two birds remained. To our joy and the pride of their “second mother” they are growing and developing very well.

Now what? There are many opportunities, which we should discuss and to choose carefully the best of them because the young birds have to grow up and become a part of the history of the returning of this extinct species in Bulgaria.
