The Griffon Vulture Hatchling, Hatched at the Green Balkans Rescue Center, Saw Its Parents for the First Time
03.03.2022The Griffon Vulture hatchling, which hatched ten days ago in the incubator of the Rescue Center of Green Balkans, was returned to its parents for further rearing.
Fed by the caretakers at the Center and warmed in a curios, it grew up healthy and strong, but in order not to get used to the human species, it was returned to its own, where it will learn to live and feed like a real vulture. These will be important lessons for him, which he will need when he is released into the wild and lives independently.
Just before he was placed in the nest, he was fed and examined, and when they saw him, his parents immediately recognized him and began to warm and care for him.
The activities related to the reproduction of large species of vultures at the Green Balkans Rescue Center are part of a project “Bright Future for Black Vulture” LIFE14 NAT/BG/649. All hatchlings hatched as part of the breeding program are adapted and released into nature, with the aim of increasing the population of the species in Bulgaria.
