Today, the second graders from the ‘Sveti Ivan Rilski’ school, Haskovo, celebrated the International Children’s Day – 1st June at the Green Balkans Rescue Center in Stara Zagora.
We welcomed 125 children who had a lot of questions and experiences with wildlife. They shared their enthusiasm and we told them more about the work at the center and the species we treat there. We saw nature through their eyes and shared this interesting celebration.
The children were interested to know more about work at the center, how we treat animals and how we protect nature. They learned more about protected species within the Natura 2000 ecological network, some of which we breed and rehabilitate at the Rescue Center before releasing them back in nature, like the bearded and griffon vultures, the saker facon, lesser kestrel and other.
The little nature lovers even adopted two great white pelicans – Gruio and Filip and a peregrine falcon.
The Green Balkans Rescue Center wishes a happy Children’s Day to all children, young and old, who never lost their connection with nature, be very happy and never lose it!
