The Czech Republic donated a Griffon Vulture to Bulgaria’s nature
10.11.2009The bird was donated by Zlin Zoo, as this is the first Griffon Vulture hatched in the zoo.
Although less than a year old, the youth weighs 7 kg and it is time to separate from its parents.
We are proud of the fact that instead of placing the bird in another zoo, our Czech colleagues preferred to include the vulture into Green Balkans’ vulture reintroduction program.
After the 30-day obligatory quarantine at the Rescue Center the bird will be moved to an acclimatization aviary in the Balkan Mountains. One day we will be able to see it hovering in the sky...
We would like to thank once again our colleagues from Zlin Zoo for their support for the vulture reintroduction in Bulgaria.
More news about the “Czech vulture” coming soon! Looking forward to new joint initiatives with Zlin Zoo.
