A dam, near the Sakar village of Levka, became the new home of ten young mallard ducklings hatched at the Green Balkans Rescue Center.

The action was joint between the team of "Life for Lesser Kestrel" LIFE19 NAT/BG/001017, implemented by the Green Balkans and financed by the LIFE program of the European Union, and representatives of the local hunting group.

These types of activities have become traditional and are part of our team's efforts for partnership and dialogue with local communities, in the areas of Lesser kestrel's recovery.

The mallards we released are a generation of confiscated parents bred and used as bait for illegal hunting. And their release, together with the hunters of the area, is kind of gesture of partnership in the name of nature and wildlife.
