Students from Trakia University visited the Green Balkans Rescue Center, as part of an event organized by the University's VetSim Simulation Center
25.11.2022As part of an event organized by the VetSim Simulation Center of Trakia University, more than 25 veterinary medicine students attended a one-day training at the Green Balkans Rescue Center.
The first part of the training included hands-on exercises in providing first aid to wild animals in distress, applying bandages, applying intravenous catheter and taking blood samples. The students, in addition to observing, were also actively involved in the work, guided by the Center's veterinarians, Dr. Stefka Dimitrova and Dr. Rusko Petrov, PhD student at Trakia University.
The second part of the training was in the field. Within an hour, the students made a complete tour of the reproduction and rehabilitation part of the Center. Here they gained knowledge about how wild animals are bred and rehabilitated, as well as the methods and requirements for their reproduction and subsequent release into nature.
At any moment during their visit to us, the students had the opportunity to ask questions, and the Center's team answered everything that interested the young people. The topics of poaching, waste and how it affects nature and wildlife were also brought upon.
