Troyan was found by accident, as is almost always the case with young Montagues Harriers, during the harvest in one of the fields near the village of Troyanovo.
It was lucky that the bird was found but unluckily he had a broken leg. So after entering the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans, Troyan was subjected to a number of tests. Unfortunately, they all showed that foot would not heal on its own and that serious surgery was required. The Surgeons rolled up their sleeves and began ... The operation took veterinarians almost two hours, but I think we did well.
The day after Troyan slowly began to stabilize.
We still feed him by hand, but we hope soon he will acquire the strength and courage needed to fend for himself. Otherwise, treatment and care for the injured foot continues ...
And a little information about why Troyan was actually in the fields.
Troyan, and all other Montagues Harriers, are born in the fields of Barley and Wheat. This is where the adults make their nests and raise their young. The problem is that when it comes time to harvest, the adults get scared by the machinery and leave the young harriers who are not yet ready to fly and then they often fall victim to the machines if the people do not see them in time...
Well, Troyan has his second chance. For him we keep our fingers crossed ...
