The bad weather caused a lot of trouble in the last few days. RIEW Pazardzhik contacted the Green Balkans Rescue Centrе with some bad news.
After a call on the 'green phone', employees of RIEW Pazardzhik responded to a signal for 2 nests destroyed by a storm in the villages of Aleko Konstantinovo and Chernogorovo. A total of 5 little storks were rescued from the two nests, which were immediately redirected to the Rescue Centre.
2 of them died as a result of the fall. The other 3 are fine, one with a broken wing and foot, and our veterinarians and their helpers - Trakia university students immediately put on a splint and made a bandage.
After the timely intervention, the young birds were placed in the baby sector at the Rescue Centre along with many of our other stork orphans. After they grow up, they will be released and we hope that next year they will return and build many new nests in Bulgaria.
