A month ago in a news on our website we stated a question: Why would anyone shoot a pelican?”
Regretfully, it turned out that this is not a single case but an usual event!!!
Yesterday a White pelican was admitted in the Green Balkans’ Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center from Novi Pazar. Today the bird was transported to Surgery department of the Veterinary faculty at Trakia university. The roentgenography revealed terrifying news – the bird was shot! We found pellets from a shotgun in the broken wing!!!
The bird was operated but still the outcome of the surgery is unclear!
The case will be referred to official authorities!
