Routine medical examination of the Saker falcons at the Rescue Centre

01.09.2020
All Saker falcons at the Rescue Centre of the Green Balkans are in good shape and, now, ready for winter. This was established by the veterinarians of the Centre during the planned routine medical examination, after the end of the breeding season this year.

This is good news, given that winter is coming, a season in which all birds, even those cared for by our team, are vulnerable, exposed to poor metrological conditions.

While the Center's team of veterinarians had taken care of the examination, deworming, and shortening of falcon's beaks and claws, another part of our team had focused on maintaining the aviaries, the birdhouses. We repaired perches, cleaned the gravel, disinfected all surfaces.

In short - the work we did these two days was not a little. We thank the students from the Trakia University and the University of Forestry, participants in the 'Student Internships - Phase 2' project of the Ministry of Education and Science, funded by the Operational Program "Science and Education for Smart Growth", co-financed by the European Social Fund for help and diligence.

The 'Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria' project is financed by Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund and Armeec JSC.
