Project "Life for Falcons" guests at an event of photographers - animalists
26.09.2022Over the past weekend, employees of Green Balkans under the project "Life for Falcons" LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162 presented the activities for the protection of the Saker falcon at the Photo Exhibition and Exchange of Experience event "Wild Animals of Stara Planina".
Prominent photographers and artists whose work focuses on nature and wildlife took part in the photo exhibition, as well as nature lovers who had the opportunity to enjoy 50 selected photo works and paintings.
The hosts of the event from the Karashka house, Selishte village, welcomed the guests in a pleasant domestic environment, and the program they presented to them was varied - walks and forest photo hunting, a demonstration of photographic techniques, a tasting of home-cooked food, etc.
The Saker falcon Romeo was the main character in the talk that the Green Balkans Rescue Center team held. Its main objective was to familiarize the participants with the Saker falcons, as well as with its characteristic morphological markings for recognition in the wild, and also with the identification marks with which we equip the birds.
The involvement of photographers in the activities to support the Saker falcon population in our country is key, as they collect valuable information and photographic material during their photo excursions.
We thank Kalin Mihailov from Balkan Wildlife for the great idea to organize this exciting event and for the opportunity for the Wildlife Rescue Center to be a part of it!
The "Securing the recovery of the endangered Saker Falcon in Bulgaria and Southern Romania" (LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162) project is of 5 years duration and receives funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
