The scops owls (Otos scops) are one of the smallest nocturnal birds of prey in Europe and the only ones that migrate for the winter.

Returning from the exhausting flight back to Bulgaria, Oto had suffered a serious road accident, colliding with a car by the road to Popovo.

After he had been found by people, Oto was admitted for treatment at the Rescue Center of Green Balkans. Having in mind the cause of his state, he has been very lucky to get only his right wing and leg broken.

After that Oto underwent a two-hour operation for “assembling“ of the bones of the leg.

His wing, we decided, was only going to be bandaged, a method that proved to be very successful.

Several days after the operation, Oto von Scop feels great and has stepped on a perch with both legs, looking at the misfortunes that happened to him from the height of his noble descent.
