In July we shared the wonderful news about a newly formed Egyptian vulture pair in Northern Bulgaria, which was raising its first baby. The pair was supplementary fed for weeks, and the juvenile was observed by collaborators of the Egyptian Vulture New LIFE project.
All Saker falcons at the Rescue Centre of the Green Balkans are in good shape and, now, ready for winter. This was established by the veterinarians of the Centre during the planned routine medical examination, after the end of the breeding season this year. Read more..

А Griffon vulture, rescued by the joint efforts of BSPB, Green Balkans and Hunting reserve 'Studen Kladenets'28.08.2020
On August 26, a fisherman gave a signal to the Hunting reserve 'Studen Kladenets' about a drowning Griffon vulture in the Studen Kladenets Dam in the Eastern Rhodopes, Bulgaria. The Hunting reserve contacted a team of the LIFE project of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) "Egyptian Vulture New LIFE". The team was monitoring the species' nests near the area and responded immediately. From the hunting, reserve provided a boat and the search began. After about half an hour of inspecting the area, the bird was found and taken out of the cold waters of the dam. Read more..
Another field activity the Green Balkans completed. This time we were in the area of Provadia. There, near the village of Partizani, where a site for artificial feeding of Egyptian vultures was built, we installed a video surveillance cameras with which our field team can monitor the visitors of the site from a distance.
