On the 2 April 2017 trainees from the Green Balkans’ Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre in Stara Zagora, from the “Student Practices” project of the MES, together with volunteers and part of the Centre’s team, visited our south neighbour, Greece. The rescue campaign in the Kresna Gorge – climbers managed to collect the doomed griffon vulture egg, the baby vulture is missing from the nest, the rescue team did not have a chance to save it. The team is headed for to the Green Balkans rescue centre in order to place the egg in a special incubator. Read more..

Urgent rescue campaign for the Kresna Gorge vulture baby and egg.

The dead poisoned vultures in the area are 30 in total. FWFF (Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna) have shared the latest information on the case with the Kresna poison. Unfortunately, to this moment 17 dead vultures have been located with the combined efforts of FWFF’s team and the volunteers who responded. The actual casualty numbers are assessed to be over 30 dead birds. Read more..
