She was found near the villages of Edrevo and Milevo in the Stara Zagora region. In fact found is not the correct word because the brave fellows who brought her in the Rescue Centre made quite a good run to catch her. It turned out that Iva has a wound on her right wing and she was very weak because she was unable to fly and find food.
We bandaged the wing and accommodated Iva in one of the rehabilitation rooms in the Rescue Centre. She proved to be a very shy and timid heron, eating only when she has made sure no one is watching, and only fresh fish at that.
We estimated that Iva should stay in the Rescue Centre for about 20 to 30 days. During that period she will need fresh food, vitamins, minerals and a lot of rest. The heron’s breeding season is approaching and it is necessary to release her as soon as possible, so that she could find a partner. You can help this happen, too.
