Lesser Kestrels in Sakar

Mar 21, 2020

The Lesser Kestrels have returned to our country in one, unfortunately, difficult time.

However, the Green Balkans team continues to carry out its duty of care for the rare birds in the Levka village - home to the first wild bird colony of more than 50 years in our country, strictly following the national emergency measures.

Today, at the last observation, we were able to count more than 20 birds returning.  Two or three pairs were already formed and the first copulations were registered.

It's nice to watch the male birds inspecting the artificial nests set up by our team around the release place of Lesser Kestrels. Some have not yet decided which nest to choose for their future family, while others are already working hard to prepare their own and invite their significant other to visit it.
