We have started the construction of a freezer chamber to store loads and diverse food to cover the needs of the inhabitants of the Centre and especially those of the vultures (which really eat a lot and in big chunks!), an external washing premise for cleaning and maintenance, as well as repair and reconstruction of service premises for food preparation. At the same time we are starting the expansion and refurbishment of the vulture aviaries.
Construction in the Wildlife Rescue Centre is always a great challenge as it has to consider the breeding season of all species of patients and ensure minimum disturbance and noise. As you know, our birds are many and completely different and if vultures start their courtship as soon as December, Lesser Kestrels for example are currently rearing their recently hatched babies.
We hope that the reconstructions will be ready by the end of the year and would improve our efforts in caring after our patients and securing optimal conditions for their breeding in captivity.
Please note that we are temporary closing the Centre for visitors, hoping we would soon welcome you with even better conditions and happier patients!
