Kralcho - the Imperial Eagle treated at the Wildlife Rescue Centre was found shot near the village of Malomirovo

Let us remind you who Kralcho is and why he is such a loss for the team of Green Balkans.

The eagle was admitted in the Rescue Centre in March 2013 from the area of the village of Raykova mogila, Svilengrad. The bird was shot, with a fractured wing and leg. We invested all our efforts, all our skills and knowledge of the vets of the Rescue Centre, in order to recover Kralcho and be able to release him back into nature a month later.
What followed was a series of meetings with representatives of the local hunting societies, the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Waters, the State Forestry Department. Everyone seemed to be extremely sorry for the accident but all refused to take the blame.

At the day of the release, we tagged Kralcho with a transmitter, granted to us by our colleagues from BSPB. Having tracked Kralcho for a year, and once again thanks to our colleagues from BSPB, the transmitter lead us to the carcass of the shot bird.

It is sad and a shame that the efforts of so many people lead to nothing but repeating the entire story just a year later.
We have, of course, notified the relevant authorities!
