A few days ago, a signal for an injured eagle was received in the Green Balkans’ Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center. Experts from the RIEW Stara Zagora responded the signal we submitted to them and transported the bird to the team of the Center in the region.

The bird was a juvenile Imperial eagle. During the medical examination we revealed that the eagle was very exhausted and had fracture of the left wing and the left leg. On the very next day the bird was transported to the Surgery department of the Faculty of veterinary medicine at Trakia university, where Ass. Prof. Galina Simeonova undertook the surgery.

Despite the huge efforts of the rescuers and the team of the Center, the juvenile bird did not survive.

In the necropsy of the stomach and the intestines, a fair amount of fuel oil and feathers of а bird were found, which explains the poor condition of the eagle. Probably it have lead to the accident resulting in fractures.
