From the description and transmitter the Wildlife Centre quickly realized that this was a Imperial eagle , and as our team was close, were able to reach the Village within a few hours.

It turneds out to be a young bird born this year , a bird from the only known active nest in the Central Forest. After consulting with our colleagues from BSPB it became clear that the eagle was marked by them earlier this year.

An initial review found that the bird had a low weight, but luckily for us , it had no visible injuries. Fecal samples showed spiruridi ( internal parasites ) in a highcount. This was most likely the cause of the birds condition.

Thanks to the quick response team from Green Balkans the young Eeagle has already been treated , and the good news is that despite the stress and the condition he has not lost his hunting instincts , and his huge appetite .

The Imperial Eagle is a protected species under the Biological Diversity of the Republic of Bulgaria In our country, with its abundance in nature, this bird does not exceed 40 pairs. Each year the Rescue Centre treats and rehabilitates 1 or 2 Imperial Eagles.
More than 90 % of the Imperial Eagles submitted to us have been released back into the wild. So over the years and Rescue Centre has become a leader in the treatment and rehabilitation of Imperial Eagle victims.
