I am because we are! Green Balkans visiting Beglika

25.08.2014
This year, again, Green Balkans took part in the celebration called Beglika – a four-day festival with a diverse musical program, numerous workshops, colorful kiosks, educational lectures, songs, dances, and many, many friends, along the peaceful banks of Golyam Beglik Dam in the Rhodope Mountains.

We joined the festivities through our charity shop "Green Balkans and friends" and a lecture entitled “Are they facing extinction?” presenting our work within “Vultures’ Return in Bulgaria” LIFE08 NAT/BG/278 and “Lesser Kestrel Recovery” LIFE11 NAT/BG/360 projects. Representatives of the Wildlife Rescue Center were also at our stand, thanks to "Green Society in Action" project, funded by the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Program, through “Reform Fund Linked to Civil Society Participation”. Dozens of visitors left taking away souvenirs from our charity shop, hundreds of visitors learnt about our work, and several new members were recruited!

To our great joy, we found many friends here, some of them old, some of them new! The tent of “Transparent mountains” saved us from the hail, Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation provided wonderful decorations with beautiful boards dedicated to NATURA 2000, and all together, hand in hand, danced lively folklore dances and sang songs by the campfire.

Those four days slip by offering yoga, body art, T-shirt painting, fascinating lectures, children's laughter, late-night talks and lots of colorful, smiling people.

Thank you friends!
