Hunters and conservationists - together for nature

At the end of last week, the Green Balkans' "Reintroduction of the Saker falcon in Bulgaria" project team, together with the hunting teams, and members of UHFB from the Stara Zagora villages Kolarovo and Sredets, released 150 pheasants in the wild.

The action is traditional and is held for another year in the spirit of the partnership between the hunters and our team.
The territories of the hunters from these groups are also the places where we release the young falcons, hatched and bred within the boundaries of the Green Balkans Wildlife Rescue Center. Therefore, we used the opportunity to tell the audience more about the Saker falcon, as well as our activities under the "Life for the falcon" LIFE 20 NAT/BG/001162 project, in which one of the partners is UHFB. Within the project, among other things, we have a planned tour to find pairs of this species.

In this sense, hunters could help our team a lot with the information they will gather during the hunt. Therefore, for us, this meeting was not only pleasant but also very useful. We believe that we will continue our joint initiatives in the name of Bulgarian nature.

The "Securing the recovery of the endangered Saker Falcon in Bulgaria and Southern Romania" (LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162) project  is of 5 years duration and receives funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
